Noula Diamantopoulos is a multidisciplinary artist working across a variety of mediums including performance, sculpture, mosaics, neon, printmaking, painting and encaustics.
Much of Noula’s work explores new ways of making, seeing and understanding both art and the world. As an artist, practicing psychotherapist, and holistic coach, she constantly strives to create work that captures and expresses those universal feelings and emotions which cannot be named or described, but are an essential part of the human condition. Her practice explores the life force and the whole ‘idea of us’ through her art.
Available artworks from her previous shows can be seen below. These works were originally presented as part of the following exhibitions:
Numinous, 2016 – With words as both medium and meaning expressed in a language of light, Noula Diamantopoulos, like some latter day mythic Delphic oracle from her Greek heritage, seeks to connect through posing conundrums. Questions are a format that is integral to her holistic life-practice that integrates visual arts in a range of media, published writing, and counselling and at the heart of the cryptic written-questions-only dialogues of her Quest performances; meditative exchanges, where the ‘noise’ of talking is eliminated…Noula’s cryptic neon signs are quiet, introspective, oblique: articulating the existential, interrogating relationships, the agony of indecision, inviting interpretation and internal conversation and seeking enlightenment.
Agape, 2017 – Noula’s 2017 series of cryptic neon artworks employed the poetry of the Greek language to explore one of art history’s most enduring and universal themes – love. Responding to this theme of love, the works in Noula’s Agape series explore what it really means to love, “how to be love”, and like all of her work, challenges us to contemplate and question how we define love.
I, belong, 2019 –‘ I, belong’ was a collaborative exhibition with American artist Douglas Diaz. Grounded in the idea of belonging, the exhibition presented a selection of paintings by Diaz alongside light-based text works by Diamantopoulos, all of which have sprung from a series of mindful and transformative conversations between the two artists on life and art.
