Sylvia Schwenk
POSITIONS BERLIN ART FAIR

Sylvia Schwenk will be exhibiting drawings from Absurdity, her non-fiction grown-ups picture book about life in the public service, as part of an upcoming group show called Paper file #14 at Galerie oqbo in Berlin from 31 August until 30 September 2018.

Drawings from Absurdity will then travel to POSITIONS BERLIN ART FAIR as part of Paper file #14 where they will be exhibited from 27 September 2018 — 30 September 2018.

Absurdity is a grown-ups picture book. It is a collection of short stories, drawings and observations that share my experience of working in the  service. Depictions relating to everyday life outside the public service are also interspersed throughout, as a counterpoint. Short stories are tied together by emotion, character or absurdity.

There are no grand events taking centre stage. There is no traditional story or plot for you to follow or escape in. There are no main characters, instead there are people who fade in and out.

Absurdity is a work about the human condition that holds a mirror to the minutia—the understated importance of everyday life. After all life takes place in the detail.
