Shoufay Derz will be showcasing a selection of sculptures and photographs in her upcoming solo exhibition In Memory of Water at Manly Art Gallery and Museum. Artworks in the exhibition will be on display from the 6th April till the 20th May 2018.
Fresh from her Australia Council Career Development Grant travels, multi-disciplinary artist Shoufay Derz has built on her significant body of work focusing on landscape, poetry and the ‘unknown’.
From the Badlands of the USA to the chalk cliffs of Rugen, Germany, she has explored monumental eroded landscapes to create what she calls ‘luminous voids’, a visual poetry of the unknown.
By reflecting on the presence of the past in the present, this new work asks us to comtemplate intimacies of the unknown, as well as the ruptures between our experience and knowledge of the world.
Exhibition Opening: Friday 6th April from 6-8pm at Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
Artist Talk: Sunday 20th May from 3-4pm at Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
