Jacqueline Larcombe
Winner of the 2022 Artereal Gallery Mentorship Award

Congratulations to Jacqueline Larcombe, recipient of the 2022 Artereal Gallery Mentorship Award.

Awarded each year to one graduating student from Sydney College of the Arts, the recipient is mentored closely by the Artereal Gallery team and given the opportunity to exhibit their work in either a solo online show or a physical group exhibition.

The Artereal Gallery Mentorship Award also allows the recipient opportunities to seek advice and guidance for one year, pertaining to and relating to their professional development, the development of artistic practice, exhibition opportunities, art prizes, residencies, and artist profiling opportunities.

“Jacqueline Larcombe’s work impressed us for the way in which it evoked multiple cultural touchstones. Her works integrate the everyday vernacular pastiche architecture and domestic rituals of familiar enclaves of suburban Sydney with the iconic history and architecture and culture of her Greek heritage.

Jacqueline’s works on unstretched canvas capture a layered nostalgia for the fabric of lives and traditions uplifted and taken across the world. She renders vestiges of retained characteristics adapted to another time, another place.

The intersection between her graphic mark-making, detailed patterning with allusions to the evolution of classical iconography imbues her work with enormous vitality.”

Artereal Gallery is excited to be working with Jacqueline in 2023.
