IN SILENCE AND MOVEMENT YOU CAN SHOW THE REFLECTION OF PEOPLE
12 March - 12 March 2011

A new work of participatory performance art conceived by intervention artist Sylvia Schwenk especially for Art Month Sydney 2011 will take place in front of the MCA construction site at Circular Quay.

The work will draw attention to ordinary events or actions that normally go unnoticed, reminding us in a small way that history is the total sum of ordinary things: life is not the result of significant events, but the culmination of small, everyday acts, things, coincidences and encounters. The performance will engage with the architecture, geography, civic function and physical or social dynamics in the space. Colour, unity, play, and relationship building are significant elements, with participants wearing matching yellow overalls, yellow hardhats, and black boots, appropriate to the psychology and setting of the theme, while performing simple, repetitive steps,

the simplicity and elegance of which enhance the impact and potency of the performance where the performers will mime the act of carrying large glass sheets. The site was selected due to the extensive construction works extending MCA.
