This September as part of Sydney Fringe, Artereal Gallery and Yoke Magazine join forces in a creative partnership to present a series of events which will inspire deeper conversation, deeper listening and a deeper experience of contemporary art.

FRINGE UNYOKED, a creative pop–up hub at 17 Oxford Street, Paddington, will run for two weeks from 10th – 22nd September, during which time audiences can experience a contemporary art gallery brought to life by workshops, free artist talks and panel discussions, spoken word poetry, yoga, sacred music, and intimate long-table dinner parties.

Artereal and YOKE both believe in the importance of Art as being culturally significant to community, pulling together a packed fortnight of events including an exhibition which will feature work from a cross-section of established and emerging artists.

YOKE founding Editor and Sydney creative Cynthia Sciberras commented: “Festivals are fabulous, not just for their alternative allure and celebration in calling us together to share the good times, but as well as calling us together for deeper conversations, and deeper listening in the challenging times. There is no doubt that right now we need to explore our individual creativity to enrich our own inner world, and in turn take this out into our communities.”

YOKE, based in Redfern, has distributed over 10,000 copies, with four printed issues out in the world celebrating creativity and conscious community. Like Artereal Gallery, YOKE encourages new audiences to connect with independent and emerging artists.

Rhianna Walcott, Associate Director, Artereal Gallery commented: “We are committed to encouraging variety and experimentation in contemporary art, and by partnering with YOKE we get to reinvigorate and expand the art viewing experience outside of our gallery walls.

With a series of events designed to merge wellness, art, mindfulness, creativity and conversation, the line up of artist talks, intimate long-table dinners with artists in conversation, and such events as yoga amongst the art, allow audiences to see art in a different light.

Commenting further, Walcott explains: “Artereal is excited to be collaborating with YOKE to present a tailored exhibition which will allow new audiences to evoke their curiosity, awaken their imagination and see something different. From emerging to significant, from experimental practices to enduring themes, the exhibition will showcase a vivid cross-section of contemporary Australian artists.”
