Claudia Nicholson
CURATES MCA ART BAR

Claudia Nicholson has been invited to curate the next edition of MCA Art Bar at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia on Friday 28 July.

A combination of exhibitions, music and live acts will come together under the direction of Claudia Nicholson, transforming the MCA into a pulsating piece of performance art.

Colombian-born Sydney-raised artist Claudia Nicholson is known for her contemporary twist on the colourful alfombra de aserrín (traditional South American sawdust carpet), created painstakingly over several days using sawdust, glitter and pigment. Claudia’s work seeks to reconnect her roots in traditional Latin American culture, with her contemporary practice in Australia.

She recently worked on the project Women of Fairfield commissioned by C3West, MCA, Power House Youth Theatre and STARTTS and was commissioned by Runway Australian Experimental Art to generate new digital work for issue #31 West. Her work was also included in The National 2017: New Australian Art earlier this year at Carriageworks.
