Congratulations to Sam Holt on being selected to undertake a residency at the Wool Factory in Sabadell, Spain.
The aim of the Wool Factory Artist in Residence program is to invite approximately 6-8 visiting international artists a year to engage with the particular characteristics of the studio.
The studio is located at a working wool factory in Sabadell, Spain. It was previously a warehouse for wool being shipped all around the world. The studio has 7,000 square feet of raw workspace. The ceiling averages 25 feet and has pairs of skylights running end to end. The metals doors at the entrance were designed to accommodate semi-trailers. Visiting artists will have up to 5000 square feet to work with.
This one month residency will take place this May and will form part of Sam Holt’s year long travel program in Europe, organised under the auspices of the Marten Bequest (Painting), which he was awarded in mid 2017.
