Liam Benson is exhibiting as part of two upcoming exhibitions planned to coincide with the 2018 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The first exhibition ‘shhhOUT: art from a GLBTQIA+ perspective‘ will be held at ESD Gallery and opens on 20 February 2018.
Examining the personal experiences, political influences, attitudes and ideologies, shhhOUT: art from a GLBTQIA+ perspective is a thought-provoking exhibition bringing together Sydney and NSW-based artists who respond to the contrasting worlds included in our daily lives. Whether it is a conflict or sense of belonging, the desire to be out and proud – to celebrate, or constantly hitting a barrier of non-acceptance, shhhOUT: art from a GLBTQIA+ perspective unmasks the dual-lives GLBTQIA+ artists live in.
Exhibiting artists: Cameron Stead, Drew Holland, Elyssa Sykes-Smith, Francis and Spaghetti, Jean Kearney, Kit Ball, Liam Benson, Lisa Tolcher, Maree Azzopardi, Rachel Buch, Ruben Cuda, Sally Clarke and Steven Cavanagh.
The second exhibition ‘Mosaic – LGBTIQ Artists of Western Sydney’ runs from 22 February at Parramatta Artist Studios. Presented by Parramatta Queer Forum, ACON, City of Parramatta and Western Sydney Bent Folk, the exhibition will showcase 7 artists from across the region including: Liam Benson, Anna McMahon, Georgia Cranko, Geoff Sellman, George Tillianakis, Dan Webb and Stuart Garske.
Curated by Liam Benson and Steven Ross.
