Svetlana Bailey was recently invited to be Artist in Residence at Bundanon Trust on the Shoalhaven River.
During her three week residency at Bundanon Trust, Svetlana explored the studio as a realm for the translation of space through objects and images. Residing with her at Bundanon, the artist tooks prints and props that allow her to play with perspective, erected as scenes of substitutable, symbolic and illusionary space.
In her practice, Svetlana continuously gathers new materials, and Bundanon was also a place to collect – in the form of photographs – objects from the surrounding nature which she will now take to her New York studio and rework into new arrangements.
Svetlana is also currently presenting a solo exhibition ‘Once there was there wasn’t‘ at Artereal Gallery. This will be followed later in 2018 by a solo exhibition at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, USA and an upcoming residency at ISCP in New York, USA.
