Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award
2018 Artereal Finalists

Congratulations to artists Ben Ali Ong, Shoufay Derz, Anne MacDonald and Kai Wasikowski, who have been shortlisted as finalists for the prestigious Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2018. 

This year, Home of the Arts (HOTA)  received over 200 entries. Ben Ali Ong, Shoufay Derz, Anne MacDonald and Kai Wasikowski were shortlisted as finalists for the award alongside 45 other artists.
HOTA Gallery Director Tracy Cooper-Lavery remarked that “The 2018 Award submissions are potent with diverse subject matter and photographic techniques.” The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award exhibition honours the philanthropy of Mrs Win Schubert AO (1937-2017). The Award is a touchstone of contemporary photographic practice in Australia, and an exciting platform for both established and emerging photographers to showcase their work.

The exhibition showcases a selection of finalists, and is a reflection of contemporary practice that examines diverse themes and approaches. JUWSPA captures the energetic evolution of the photographic medium as a means of creative expression with photography arguably being one of the most dynamic and embracing mediums in contemporary visual art.

The Prize will be awarded by 2018 judge Cherie McNair, Director & CEO of the Australian Centre for Photography, on the opening night of the exhibition, Friday 19 October.

All finalist’s artwork will be on display from 20 October to 25 November. at HOTA Gallery, Gold Coast.
